Former South African President and freedom fighter Nelson Mandela has passed in the age of 95

Former South African President and freedom fighter Nelson Mandela has passed on. Mndela died on Thursday at his home in Johannesburg, South Africa surrounded by his family members.

Mandela has been sick for over three months with prostate cancer that has finally claimed his life.

Born in 1918 in the Eastern Cape Town, Mandela was instrumental in the fight against the dominance of the White Man's rule under the Apartheid Policy, and this is what landed him in prison where he spent 27 years. 

On his release in 1990, Mandela became South Africa's first Black and Democratically elected President. He led South Africa for only 4 years up to 1994.

Mandela is refered to as the Father of African Democracy and an Icon for his efforts in the total liberation of South Africa and Africa as a whole. 
 
Nelson Mandela passed away at 95 on Thursday, leading to an international outpouring of grief and tributes to the South African legend.
